Pastor Richard P. Butler, Sr., was born and raised in New York City. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1976, and after serving 13 years, he was honorably discharged after serving in Operation Desert Storm. While in the military, he answered the call to the ministry and has been preaching for 44 years.  

Pastor Butler has served as the Interim Pastor of Unity of Faith Fellowship in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He has pastored three churches and has the heart of a God called pastor. In 1993, he accepted the position as Pastor of Riverview MissionaryBaptist Church in Coeymans, New York where he served for five years. In 1998, he accepted the call to Pastor Central Baptist Church in Salt Point, New York where he served for twenty years, until he was called to Pastor Poplar GroveBaptist Church in 2018. 

Pastor Butler has two master’s degrees and an honorary doctorate. He has a strong desire to see God’s people built up in the faith as they come into the knowledge of who they are in Christ. Pastor Butler loves preaching and teaching God’s Holy Word, and he knows and expects God will build the believer and strengthen the church so that we can win more souls for Christ.

Pastor Butler is the father of three children and grandfather of two.
